Exodus from Egypt Pt. 8

•February 21, 2010 • Leave a Comment

This week we see how Jehovah intentionally dismantles Egypt’s economy by turning the Nile to blood. It is the first of 10 plagues sent to destroy 10 Egyptian gods. Jehovah longs that we know only Him as our provider. But He does not stop with destroying Egypt’s economy, the Nile. He also dismantles the system for the wealthy and their life savings, the middle class who work for a living and their savings, as well as the ways people spent what they had, even turning to blood individual drinking water. God’s message to His people and to the world system is simple: Worship the Lord alone for your provision.

We all know the difference between knowing about somebody and knowing who they are. But often times we can get tricked into thinking we actually know them when we have a lot of information about them.  This is the same for God. Maybe you know about God. His stories, what he does, the fact that He’s a creator and all cosmic super-power. But do you know Him? Did you know that He died to show you that He can be known by you? This week we see how the LORD, for the first time, shows Himself as the God who will be known.

Part 5 of the Exodus series reveals Moses’/Our repeated objections to God’s call. God says, “I will use you”, and we say, “But I’m too weak!” God says, “It’s OK I’ll be with you”. We say, “But who are you?” So God says, “I’m the only God who actually exists [I am that I am]“. We say, “Ok, but what if people don’t belive what You’re telling me?” So God says, “I’ll do signs to show Myself true”. And we go back to the beginning, “But God, I’m too weak!”

The Lord hears the cries of His people. This week we see how the groaning of Gods people living under bondage rises to the Father and He comes down to deliver. We also learn from Romans 8 that our part in the movement of God on earth is our hearts groaning for liberation. For the one who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Holy Spirit and the will of the Father.

Miriam is my cousin from Oxford England. She’ll be doing two weekends at Laity Lodge first two weeks in March. But in between she’ll be staying with me and is looking to play some house concerts. If any of you would like to host/hear her for a concert let me know. I’m working on a few places myself. If you’ve any suggestions of places in San Marcos for her to get a paid gig let me know as well. Thanks ~ Adam

The Call Prayer Rally

•January 19, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Four of us from 3Riv were able to go. It was a powerful time of prayer and intercession for the unborn children. It was NOT a PROTEST. Organizers made this very clear many times. It was a call to prayer and a prayer gathering to arrest the conciseness of the nation. But more than that it was a time to deal with the spiritual powers that control abortion in America. Abortion is a spiritual issue that HAS to be dealt with by prayer and fasting as well as by legislation and education. More information about how to pray for life to be cherished in every corner of our country will be coming in the weeks ahead.

The video below is from ABC in Houston.

Exodus from Egypt Pt. 2

This week we see how the Problem arises when a “new king arises that does not remember” what God has done. It’s the world system that tries to oppress and repress God’s plans. First comes hard labor, then comes partial-birth abortion. When neither plan works to suppress God’s people, the Pharaoh resorts to murdering all male children who have been born to the Hebrews. But God, in the midst of the chaotic, government-run mandates on abortion, provides for those who “fear him”.

Gospel of the Invading Light

A special TRCC Christmas Celebration which looks at the birth of the Christ. Why did God choose to send a Messiah as a baby? If he could orchestrate a virgin birth surely He could have made Jesus just show up at 30 to rule the nations. But God does all things with purpose. As a baby, not an imperial hero, did God enter humanity. And He entered in the year of Cesare Augustus during the reign of Herod the Great. For what purpose does God juxtapose these dramatic events? Perhaps it was to signal to the world who would follow His Christ that in God’s Kingdom, unlike man’s, the helpless, needy, use-less, dependent and humble are exalted. In short, His Kingdom belongs to children.
